Who should register?
The register will make provision for the inclusion of ESCos across the value chain of energy services offered, e.g. Auditing, Technology Installers, Consulting Engineers as well as full ESCos that provide the energy services and financing, and as such this RfQ is open to all energy service companies.
How do I register?
Please go to www.sanediesco.org.za/user/register , create an account for the ESCo and provide the information requested.
All applications have to be completed by 28 February 2017.
What will register be used for?
The ESCo register will be an important tool to facilitate the market development and growth of ESCos in South Africa; and will be utilized by both the public and private sector to identify, plan, develop, finance or implement co-generation or energy efficiency and demand side management projects in buildings, public lighting or water infrastructure.
What classifications will be awarded?
Classification will be awarded on 2 levels: ESCos will be classified as either Tier 1 (Full ESCo) or Tier 2 (Developing ESCo)., and each ESCo will be classified per EEDSM technology as either Tier 1 or Tier 2
ESCos will be catergorised as either Tier 1 (Full ESCo) or Tier 2 (Developing ESCo).
How will classification be determined?
Tier 1 ESCOs will have to achieve full certification in at least 70% of the criteria evaluated, with partial certification in all others. To qualify for Tier 2, partial certification in at least 70% of the criteria evaluated is required.

How can ESCos classification be improved?
The register will be reviewed and updated on an annual basis, ensuring the relevance thereof, but also providing ESCos with the opportunity to achieve a higher certification level as they mature.
A comprehensive training program will be put in place to assist Tier 2 ESCos to develop into Tier 1 ESCos. A mentoring program whereby Tier 1 ESCos will work with Tier 2 ESCos is also envisaged.
What information will be made public?
All information provided will be treated as strictly confidential and will not be provided to any 3rd parties. Only the ESCo classification (Tier 1 or Tier 2) will be available to 3rd parties, not how the classification was determined.
